Mother Jannie Bell Montgomery gained her wings on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family in Alvin, South Carolina. She was born March 12, 1922, to the late Benjamin and Lelia Brown of Alvin, SC.

Mother Jannie Bell  was educated in the Berkeley County School System. She accepted Christ at an early age. As the Mother of Holly Hill Christian Church, she was not only a faithful member who participated in numerous boards and functions, but she helped build the church.

Mother Jannie Bell  was a great baker and she enjoyed cooking. She loved sewing and was an excellent homeowner. She believed in working hard and saving money.

In 1942, Jannie Bell was joined in holy matrimony to Ira J. Montgomery, Sr. of Greeleyville. This union was blessed with three children, Ira Jr., Ophelia and David. Her husband, Ira Sr. and daughter, Ophelia Pressley preceded Jannie Bell in death. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Keshan Brown.

Mother Jannie Bell leaves to cherish her fondest memories: her two loving sons, Ira Montgomery, Jr. (Mary) and David Montgomery of Alvin, SC; eight grandchildren, Margie Legree of Alvin, SC, Leon Montgomery (Linda) of Pineville, SC, William Pressley (Wanda) of Bonneau, SC, Jermaine Gardner, Erica Montgomery, Yvette Packer (Nijee) all of Moncks Corner, SC, Laquawn Montomery of Alvin, SC and Terika Montgomery of Georgia; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great, great-grandchildren; a special family friend, Betty Scott; and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (MONCKS CORNER). FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Holly Hill Christian Church, 1808 Santee River Road, Alvin, SC, with viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED AND PLEASE PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is grateful for your understanding and prayers doing this difficult time.
