Jannie Lee Borden Moore, daughter of the late Charles (Brother) Borden and Mozella Sheckleford-Graham, was born on July 31, 1948 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Jannie Lee left us on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 4:59 p.m., with her loved ones by her side at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Christopher Hazlett in Huger, SC.
Jannie received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She was employed by the Berkeley County School District until her retirement.
At an early age, Jannie joined Irving Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. After marriage, she joined New Hope United Methodist Church where she served faithfully on the Senior Usher Board, Sanctuary and Senior Choirs. She was also a member of the Travelettes.
Jannie's hobbies were: singing the gospel, fishing, sewing and spending time with her friends and family. Jannie was known for her humble spirit, kind heart and unwavering faith in God. She will be greatly missed by many.
Jannie leaves to cherish loving memories: her children, Cynthia L. Moore-Maddox (Christopher, Sr.) of North Charleston, SC, Pauline Mazyck (fiancé, Wendell Barron) of Huger, SC, Laura Moore-Simmons (Arthur, Jr.) of Awendaw, SC, Dianne Moore-Hazlett (Christopher) of Huger, SC, Leroy Moore, Jr. (Kimberly) of Moncks Corner, SC and Damien Moore of Huger, SC; one stepson, Leonard Simmons of Cordesville, SC; three special nephews raised as sons, James R. Moore, Jerome Moore and Anthony Manigault; her siblings, Lewis Greene, Sr. (Carolina), Frances Lawson, Ruthie Mae Fludd (Ronald), Edward Sheckleford (Retta), Jerome Sheckleford (Debra), Lester Sheckleford (Gladys) and Vanessa Sheckleford-Harris (Tony); grandchildren, Clarence Mazyck, Jr., Christopher Maddox, Jr., Arthur L. Simmons III, T'Rese R. Maddox, PO2 Tyjuana L.R. Doyle, Rico A. Simmons, Cameron Mazyck, Kara S. Simmons, Hunter Hazlett, Myecia Wigfall, Aaliyah S. Moore, Austin D. Hazlett, Ashton Moore, Chase Moore and Damien Moore, Jr.; stepgrandchildren, Ahmad Simmons and Adjha Simmons; great-grandchildren, Zykara Simmons, Evan M. Simmons, Amiah Mazyck, Zhane Simmons and Andrew Mazyck; one aunt, Edna Borden Powers; a special and dear friend, Barbara Goodwine; a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her dearly.
