Jemeta Barnwell, daughter of the late Johnny (Gray) Barnwell and Lucille Myers Barnwell, was born on December 5, 1967 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital.

Jemeta, also known as "Little Netta" and "Peanut Butter", was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, graduating from Goose Creek High School, Class of 1986.

While living in Goose Creek, she was employed as a as a Dispatcher for the North Charleston Police Department, as well as the Isle of Palms Police Department. When she relocated to Georgia, Jemeta was employed at the Cobb County Police Department.

As a little girl and young adult, Jemeta attended Calvary Church Of God In Christ, where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Years later, she started attending Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until she relocated to Marietta, GA.

Jemeta loved driving, traveling and gospel singing. She would drive out of state for a good gospel concert. Two of her favorite songs were, "I Can't Give Up" and "Whatever You Want" by Lee Williams.

In the year 1986, Jemeta was united in Holy Matrimony to Jerome Burton. From this union, they were blessed with two children.

Jemeta's beautiful memories will forever be cherished by: her loving mother, Lucille Myers Barnwell; her children, Ashley Gibson and Jeffrey Burton; three grandchildren, Dashaun Burton, Laela Gibson and Lior Livermore; siblings, Johnny Barnwell, Jr., Mary Boswell (Doc), Larry Barnwell (Mary), Kenneth Barnwell (Dorothy), Luke P. Barnwell (Marian), Frank Barnwell, Robert Barnwell, Benita Barnwell, Zenia Mae Holmes and Shawn Reid (Linda); special friends, Evangelist Lois Nash and Antoinette Wigfall; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
