Obituary

The clock of life is wound but once, And no man has the power; To tell just when the hands will stop, At late or early hour. Now is the only time you own, Live, love, work with a will; Place no faith in tomorrow, For the clock may then be still. Mr. Jervey Segar, affectionately known as "Jeff", a beloved son of the late Joe and Mary Ella Segar, was born on July 4, 1934 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina. Jeff attended the public schools of Berkeley County. At the age of 18, Jeff left South Carolina to travel where he worked on the dredge for over fifty years. He was joined in Holy Wedlock to Shirley Wilson. Jeff was preceded in death by three sisters: Josephine Fludd, Margarie Lawrence and Dorothy "Duck" Limehouse. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Shirley Wilson Segar of Fort Lauderdale, FL; five daughters, Shawmia (Stanley) Graham and Olinthia Dundy both of Tampa, FL, Michelle Wilson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Evelyn (Dr. John) Abu and Sandra (Danny) Bailey both of Virginia; five sons, Shawn Segar, Gary Wilson, Mark Wilson and Jamie Wilson all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Albennie Bell of Tampa, FL; six sisters, Susie Westberry, Helen Harleston and Geneva Gaillard all of Moncks Corner, SC, Viola Johnson, Ruth Segar and Louise Hines all of Brooklyn, NY; twenty-five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. IT TAKES A LIFETIME It takes a life to learn how to live How to share and how to give, How to face tragedy that comes your way, How to find courage to face each new day. How to smile when your heart is sore, How to go on when you can take no more. How to laugh when you want to cry, How to be brave when you say goodbye. How to still love when your loss is great, How to forgive when your urge is to late. How to be sure that God's really there How to find Him seek Him in prayer.
