Obituary

Jessie Cooper Palmer was born on July 20, 1934 to the late Peter and Essie Garner in St. Matthews, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Trident Regional Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina. She was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County. Jessie later moved to New York City to seek a better life. It was there she met and married Rev. Thaddeus Palmer. Jessie lived in New York City until she decided that it was time to return to the south and she moved to Moncks Corner, South Carolina in 1980. She was immediately received by the community of West End where she lived. Jessie's life work was to care for others. She worked diligently as a housekeeper and caregiver until her health prevented her from working. Even then she gave of herself unselfishly. Jessie came highly recommended by her clients. Upon moving to Moncks Corner, SC, Jessie wasted no time joining Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church, for she knew that above all things, her relationship with God was paramount. Without haste, she began to work faithfully in many capacities. She did this until her passing. She was a true warrior for Christ and fought the Christian battle to the end. One of her favorite songs was, "I Don't Feel No Ways Tired" and she truly believed that she had come too far from where she started. Jessie was quite the comic, and anyone that came in contact with Jessie Cooper Palmer got a good laugh. She was always upbeat and lively. Jessie was both unique and special. Her friends and family may have lost a loved one, but Heaven has gained another angel. She leaves to mourn her passing, but cherish her fond memories: a devoted and loving husband, Rev. Thaddeus Palmer; daughters, Susanne Huggins (Hercules) of Cameron, SC, Carolyn Williams, Deloris Cooper and Agnes Cooper all of Charleston, SC and Dorothy Cooper of Newark, NJ; sons, Kevin Cooper of California, Kenneth Cooper of Gainesville, FL and Roger Cooper of Charleston, SC; a sister, Inell Dixon (Albert) of Orangeburg, SC; a sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Perry; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a devoted and special friend, Thelma Gethers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
