Jessie Rivers was born on July 22, 1924 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He was a son of the late Oliver June Rivers and Viola Coaxum.

Jessie, affectionately called "Bunny", received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County.  He was a plumber and was employed by the City of Goose Creek.

He was a member of Anderson Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, SC.

Jessie was united in holy matrimony to Dollie Graham in November of 1947. This union was blessed with four children.

Jessie was known for his love of being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Jessie departed this life on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC.

Jessie was preceded in death by: daughter, Edith Smalls; son, James Rivers; grandson who was reared in the home, Richard Rivers; and siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 73 years, Dollie G. Rivers; children, Priscilla R. Bryant and Freddie (Arnette) Rivers; special son, Clarence Gibbs; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Oneda Johnson; brother, Wilbert Johnson; sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Smalls; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
