Jimmie Lee Lawrence, the son of the late William (Drayfus) Lawrence and Pearlie Perry, was born on August 1, 1949 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. God called His soldier to serve on His front line early Wednesday morning, January 2, 2019 at his residence.
Jimmie was educated in the New York City school system, graduating from Boys High School, Brooklyn, New York.
He served two years in the United States Army and seven years in the National Guard. Jimmie was also a member of the American Legion.
Jimmie later attended Trident Technical College to pursue his passion for cooking. He collected certain toys, trains being his favorite item to collect. Jimmie's favorite flower was the tulip.
Jimmie was united in Holy Matrimony to Laniece (Carolyn) Lawrence on December 24, 1971. This union was blessed to share two children and seven stepchildren.
Jimmie was preceded in death by: one sister, Betty Lee Rivers; three brothers, Vernus Lawrence, John Lawrence and William Lawrence, Jr. and a stepson, Duntre Lawrence.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: two daughters, Gwendolyn Lawrence and Naomi Robinson; six stepchildren, Aundre (Vermell) Lawrence, Leonard Broomfield, Bernard Broomfield, Ann Lawrence, Tiara Whitmire and Tarra Whitmire all of Charleston, SC; one brother, Williard Lawrence of Summerville, SC; one sister, Eva Winns of Summerville, SC; one aunt, Petunea (Malachi) Capers of Summerville, SC; twenty-six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends.
