It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Jimmy L. Chavis, Sr. of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, who departed this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected entrepreneur, Mr. Chavis leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and community service that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Mr. Chavis was the proud owner of Chavis Mobile Home Movers, a cornerstone business in Moncks Corner known for its dedication to serving the mobile home community. Through his company, he facilitated countless relocations, helping families establish new beginnings.

A faithful member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, Mr. Chavis dedicated his time and resources to the spiritual and structural growth of the church. His efforts in upbuilding the church community reflected his deep-rooted faith and commitment to service.

Known for his warm smile and tireless work ethic, Mr. Chavis was a mentor to many and a friend to all. He touched countless lives through his generosity, determination, and unwavering belief in helping others succeed.

Mr. Chavis is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Mrs. Mary C. Chavis, and his cherished children: Lakeisha C. Taylor, Jimmy "JC" Chavis Jr., and Renee "Nay" Chavis. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and the love he poured into his family will remain with them always.

He is also fondly survived by his siblings: James Chavis, Sr., Lucinda "DoraLee" Simmons, Betty Jones (Herbert), Doris Reid, Willie Gene Chavis (Minnie), and Edward "Deak" Chavis (Cheryl); a host of family, dear friends, and a grieving community who mourn his passing and celebrate the life he lived.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church, 975 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., at Grace Reformed Episcopal Church, 401 Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Baptist Cemetery, 975 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC.
