IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanne "Emma
Jane" Brown
April 17, 1948 – June 30, 2017
Joanne Brown was born April 17, 1948 in Moncks Corner, SC, a daughter of John Cobin and Emma Gibbs Cobin. She entered into eternal life with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2017 at PruittHealth, Moncks Corner, SC.
Joanne, affectionately known as "Emma Jane", received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. She was very active in high school as the "Prom Queen" and a majorette. She was a 1967 graduate of Berkeley Training High School.
Joanne accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Mt. Carmel AME Church, Moncks Corner, SC. She loved reading the Bible, and she knew it very well. While living in the nursing home, Joanne would often attend church at Mt. Carmel and she enjoyed the worship services at the nursing facility as well. She especially loved singing.
Joanne faced many challenges in her life, but her spirit was always alive and well. She never met a stranger; she made you feel like she had known you all your life. She loved people and loved to talk and meet new friends. Once you met Joann, she was someone you would never forget. Her spirit of joy was shown through her constant smiles and joking around. She touched many lives and will be missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her son, Ernest Deangelo Brown of Bronx, NY; grandson, Deangelo Xavier Brown of Brooklyn, NY; a special niece who was a "daughter" to her, Karen Brown Mathurin (Pierre) of St. Albans, NY; five siblings, Patricia Brown of Bronx, NY, Rose Penn (Johnny) of Virginia, Martha Ann Johnson of Maryland, John Cobin, Jr. (Yvette) of Lumberton, NC and Ronald Cobin (Sandra) of Fort Washington, MD; aunts, Daisy Bell Dawson of Bronx, NY; uncles, Sass Burden of Moncks Corner, SC and Joseph Gibbs of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joanne was preceded in death by siblings, Leon Cobin and Frances Simmons.
