II Timothy 4:7 Reverend Joe Heyward, Jr., son of Joe Heyward, Sr. and Daisy Jones Heyward, was born on December 31, 1933 in Cordesville, South Carolina. He departed this life on March 20, 2014 in North Charleston, SC. Reverend Heyward was educated in the Berkeley County School System. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. Reverend Heyward was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ernestine Judge on February 11, 1956. To this union six children were born. He was a loving husband to his wife and a devoted father to his children. One daughter, Yolanda, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Ernestine Judge Heyward, on July 14, 2002. He joined Cordesville United Methodist Church (formerly St. Luke United Methodist Church) at an early age. He was ordained in 1963 and served as a Lay Minister at Cordesville United Methodist Church for many years. Rev. Heyward served as the Pastor of Solomon Temple United Methodist Church in Moncks Corner, SC. He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Anthony (Catherine) Heyward, Sr. of Newport News, VA, Marvin (Bertha) Heyward of North Charleston, SC and Kevin (Angela) Heyward, Sr. of Leesburg, VA; two daughters, Sylvia (Ronald) Brown of Hanahan, SC and Yvonne (Anthony) Hammock of Summerville, SC; one brother, Woodrow Heyward, Sr. of Cross River, NY; one sister-in-law, Mozelle Myers of Bronx, NY; twenty grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and church family.
