IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joe L.
Judge
May 26, 1950 – March 27, 2016
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body,
and to be present with the Lord.
II Corinthians 5:8
Joe Louis Judge, son of the late John Judge, Sr. and the late Eliza Middleton Judge, was born May 26, 1950 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He journeyed into eternal rest on March 27, 2016 in Charleston, SC.
Joe received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. He received his diploma from Russellville High School in 1967. He later earned an Associate Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from Denmark Technical College in 1970.
Joe accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Day Dawn Baptist Church. As a longtime member, he happily accepted the role of Sunday School Treasurer; a position he enjoyed until his health declined.
Joe met the love of his life, Lugenia "Ann" Middleton, in the mid-1970s. The couple united in holy matrimony on May 27, 1978. This 38 year union blessed them with three children.
Joe was a hardworking, family man who was always willing to help at the drop of a hat. He began his working career at Jamestown Wool and later at General Dynamics. He was employed as a welder and sandblaster at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. After retiring from the shipyard, Joe began working with Berkeley County Water & Sanitation at the Convenience Centers. He was especially loved and will be dearly missed by all of the residents who visited both the Cross and Pineville Convenience Centers where he worked for 15 years. He went above and beyond his duties by assisting them even though the job did not require him to do so.
Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid gardener. His lively smile and contagious laugh brought joy to any and everyone. He will be greatly missed by all, but especially by his brothers-in-law, Herbert Lee Savage, Herbert Lloyd, Jr. and Addison Greene, Jr. with whom he shared a special bond.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Lugenia "Ann" Judge of Pineville, SC; three sons, Joel D. Judge of Pineville, SC, Joseph B. McFadden of Miami, FL and Henry L. Middleton of Pineville, SC; one daughter, Avelnn C. Judge of Pineville, SC; six grandchildren; two special nieces he raised as his own, Tremeka Partlow of Augusta GA and Kimberly Moore of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Rogerstine (Rose) Judge of Jamaica, NY and John (Patricia) Judge, Jr. of Pineville, SC; four sisters, Carrie Belle Judge of Pineville, SC, Sally Jane Britton of St. Stephen, SC, Julia Ann (Thurman) Bellamy of Jersey City, NJ and Cynthia (Addison) Greene, Jr. of Alvin, SC; brother-in-law, Herbert Lee Savage of Bonneau, SC; five sisters-in-law, Gloria Ferguson of St. Stephen, SC, Shirley (Herbert) Lloyd of Cordesville, SC, Rose Middleton of Lane, SC, Laura Middleton and Linda Middleton both of St. Stephen, SC; two aunts, Wilhemena Barker of Brooklyn, NY and Mae Frances Lloyd of Jersey City, NJ; one godchildren, Charlene Ferguson of St. Stephen, SC; two special friends, Alphonzo Williams of Pineville, SC and Frank Steward of Russellville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
