John Flagler, the fourth of six children born to Eugene and Mary Flagler, was born on September 16, 1944 in Kingstree, South Carolina. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 in Nyack, New York.

John was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County.

He was known for his happy, spontaneous laughter. He loved to fish and feed his community. John never met a stranger. He enjoyed sports and could outplay anyone that challenged him.

John believed in acquiring the best that life had to offer. John enjoyed traveling and experiencing exciting adventures. He enjoyed a good card game while listening to good music.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Elreta Jones, Lila Ravenell, Eugene Flagler, Jr. Daniel Flagler and Roberta Flagler.

John leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Edith Flagler; seven children, Michael (Priscilla) Flagler, Barbara Flagler, Mary Flagler, Jeffrey (Venus) Singleton, Gregory (Carla) Flagler, Emmanuel (Shanteola) Flagler and Dwayne Flagler; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

His Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, 12:00 p.m., at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1339 Colonel Maham Drive, Pineville, SC. Interment will be in Tri Churches Cemetery, St. Stephen, SC. Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home (Moncks Corner), and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
