John Walter Miller, the son of Reverend Catherine Miller Washington and John Henry Middleton, Sr., was born on November 5, 1956 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. John departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital, Charleston, SC.
John was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC and was a 1975 graduate of Berkeley High School. He was employed at the Medical University of South Carolina as a facility operator. He enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1978.
John was a very skillful and talented individual. He was a carpenter and a home builder. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and attending family gatherings.
John was converted and received Christ at an early age and joined the Moncks Corner AME Church. He later became a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Charleston, SC where he served faithfully as a member of the choir.
John was united in holy matrimony to JoAnn Brown.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Rayon Miller, Eddie Charles Miller, Keith Snipes, and Steven Allen Snipes; and one grandson, Aaron Jonathan Miller.
Cherishing his memories are: his wife, JoAnn Brown Miller of Charleston, SC; mother, Rev. Catherine Miller Washington of Pineville, SC; father, John Henry (Dorothy) Middleton, Sr. of St. Stephen, SC; son, Dr. John (Monika) Miller, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; grandson, Alex Miller of Little Rock, AR; three stepdaughters, LaMaura Brown, Angela Brown and Prince Stella Brown all of Charleston, SC; one stepson, Jermell (Tyiesha) Brown of Charleston, SC; thirteen step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Dr. R. Bernardo (Antoinette) Snipes of Manassas, VA; five sisters, Albertha Myers of Goose Creek, SC, Evangelist Janette (Al) McKenny of St. Louis, MO, Janice (Joe) Bradley of Pineville, SC, Tawanda Tolliver (James) McHenry of Goose Creek, SC and Evangelist Regina Jones of Raleigh, NC; three half-brothers, Darryl Middleton of North Charleston, SC, Curtis Middleton and John (Anna) Middleton Jr. of Moncks Corner, SC; four stepsisters, Lelia (David) Dennard, Willa Mae Rouse of Atlanta, GA, Emma Jane (Oswald) King of Gary IN and Mildred Williams of New York City, NY; one god sister, Helen (Greg) Lawrence of Raleigh, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
