John David Morant, affectionately known as "John D", was born on December 13, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, a son of William and Jacqueline Morant. He departed this life at Roper Berkeley Medical Center, Moncks Corner, South Carolina, on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. John D. grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He also lived in Pineville, SC where his parents lived for a period of time. He received his education in the schools of New York and South Carolina. John D. was a kind and friendly person. He loved to talk and laugh a lot. He loved his family and had many friends. He was also willing to help others. This was evident when he helped saved the life of a shooting victim in Bedford-Stuyvesant last summer by aiding him moments after the victim was caught in a crossfire. John D. worked in several occupations, including construction and painting houses. In 2010, he received his Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and he drove long distance trucks; however his passion was being a barber. He worked in his brother's barbershop in Brooklyn, NY. John D. is survived by his parents, William and Jacqueline Morant of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, William Morant, Jr. and Jermaine Johnson both of Brooklyn, NY; niece, Ka-Era Morant of Albany, NY; nephews, Ishmya Payne, Jovaughn, Micah, Heavynee and Isiah Morant all of Albany, NY, Alvin Jr., Sean, Sharaye and Quan White all of Bonneau, SC; uncles and aunts, Larry (Linda) Morant of Bonneau, SC, Ruby (George) Kun, Joseph Gibbs, Charles Gibbs all of Moncks Corner, SC, Lizzy Gibbs and Carolotta Gibbs Smith both of Brooklyn, NY; special sister/cousin, Kimberly Smith of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. ************************************************************************* To leave an online memorial message for the family, please click on 'SIGN GUESTBOOK.'
