Obituary

A TIME TO BE BORN Joseph Canty was born on September 3, 1921, son of the late Mary Canty-Smith. A TIME TO LIVE Joseph was educated in the Berkeley County Public Schools. On March 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Annie Mae Marion. He relocated to Washington, DC, where he was employed at WC&AN Miller Dec. Co. as an environmental maintenance worker. After 40 years of service, he retired. Thereafter, Joseph was employed at DC Village Nursing Home where he retired after five years. In 1990, Joseph returned to Bonneau, SC. He started a small farm, selling collard greens and sweet potatoes. He had many satisfied customers. Joseph became a member of Holy Trinity Holiness Church where the Lord filled him with the Holy Ghost. Soon after, he became a deacon and touched many lives through prayer as well as giving spiritual advice to many. Joseph was a quiet man during natural conversation, but when the Holy Ghost rose up in him, he would spend many days of fasting and praying. He truly loved and feared God. God has called him from labor to reward. By him leaving us, death left a heartache that cannot be healed, and a lifetime of memories that cannot be erased. A TIME TO DIE On the morning of December 16, 2010, in Mt. Pleasant, SC, Joseph Canty heard the voice of the Lord saying, "The war is over old soldier, it's time to come home." Joseph answered the call, took a flight, and bid all good-bye and said, "I'll see you all in the morning."
