Joseph Drayton, Jr., affectionately known as "Mickey", son of the late Joseph and Jannie Drayton, was born on March 21, 1937 in Cordesville, South Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday, August 10, 2017.

Joseph's formal education was attained through the Berkeley County School System. He retired from the South Carolina State Ports Authority in Charleston, SC.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rosa Lee Johnson Drayton. Joseph was a member of St. James Reformed Episcopal Church/ Jehovah Jireh Life Ministries.

Joseph was great at working with his hands and repairing things. Joseph had a great heart and loved to help the people of the Sawmill Community.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Drayton and sister, Sarah A. Patterson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Joseph Whitfield (Melanie) of Goose Creek, SC; one daughter, Carol Myers of Bronx, NY; two grandchildren, Kamille and Julian Whitfield; a loving and devoted sister, Rosa Lee Wilson (George) of Cordesville, SC; six brothers, Andrew Drayton (Adele) of Baltimore, MD, Edward Drayton (Mary) of Boston, MA, Cyrus Drayton (Marva) of Baltimore, MD, Harold Drayton of Miami, FL, Timothy Weathers of New Bern, NC and Joseph Gadsden of Columbus, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
