IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph "Joe"
President
September 11, 1932 – May 21, 2021
Joseph "Joe" President, a son of the late Walter President and Virginia Green President, was born September 11, 1932 in Cross, South Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, May 21, 2021 in Moncks Corner, SC.
Joe received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County. He was employed at Umphlett's Lumber Company from where he retired.
Joe was united in holy wedlock to Dorothy Ann Poinsette. This union was blessed with six children. His wife and two daughters, Joann Barnhart and Earma Copeland, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Austine Dillon III.
Joe was a great provider and hard worker. He built his home with his own hands and opened it up to share with others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching Westerns, and riding his moped. Joe loved socializing with friends, making his famous line true, "Everybody has to see the Prez!" Although he was stubborn, he had a great sense of humor that everyone loved.
Joseph "Joe" President touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Carolyn (Jerome) Williams of Philadelphia, PA, Patricia Ann (Elder Thomas) Horry and Linda Dillon both of Moncks Corner, SC; one son, David Lee Reid of Philadelphia, PA; 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; one sister, Rainey Middleton of St. Stephen, SC; two sons-in-law, Greg Barnhart and Melvin Copeland, Jr.; special friends, Princess Morton and Pam Robinson who showed love and kindness to Joe; and a host of other relatives and friends.
