Joshua Bias Swinton, son of Dorinda Battle and Benjamin Swinton, was born on December 26, 1991 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2019 in St. Stephen, SC.
Josh was truly the life of a party. He loved riding dirt bikes and four wheelers, cracking jokes at family events and most importantly spending quality time with his son and nephews. He kept a smile on his face and always had a positive vibe with everyone he came in contact with. He was dearly loved by many and will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Battle; uncle, Elliott Anderson; and brothers, Kevin Varner and Damon Varner.
Those left to cherish his memories are: his loving parents, Dorinda Battle and Benjamin Swinton of St. Stephen, SC; a son, Jhamir "Jam" Swinton; brothers, Cedric (Tenerra) Swinton of Summerville, SC, Leonte (Erika) Swinton and Carlos Swinton both of St. Stephen, SC; sisters, Alliyah Williams, Ashanti Williams and Destiny Williams all of Pineville, SC; caring grandmothers, Emma J. Battle of St. Stephen, SC and Rebecca Swinton of New York; great-grandmother, Victoria Anderson of St. Stephen, SC; special aunt, Janet (Darryl) McLean of St. Stephen, SC; aunts, Veronica Anderson, Cynthia Robinson and Gretta Smith all of St. Stephen, SC, Jackie Swinton and LaToya Swinton both of New York; uncles, Felon (Alfreda) Anderson of Moncks Corner, SC, Robert Anderson of New Jersey, Tony Swinton of New York and Lorenzo Smith of Virginia; special step-parents, LaCretia and Gwen Varner of St. Stephen, SC; nephews, Tevion Swinton, Leonte Swinton, Jr., Tae'Shawn Swinton and Emmanuel Taylor; niece, Rae'Lynn Smalls; two special kids that he loved as his own, Kingston Williams and Khaliah Swinton; special cousins, China Wilson of St. Stephen, SC, Wallace Brooks of Summerville, SC, Tariq Anderson of Moncks Corner, SC and Lamont Swinton of New York; special friend whom he loved dearly, Moresha Williams of St. Stephen, SC; his dog, Bella; and a host of other cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 3, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Phillip Baptist Church, 1898 Highway 35, St. Stephen, SC. Viewing will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (Moncks Corner facility).
