And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revelation 21:4
Kenyon Demetrius Wynn, son of the late Raymond Thomas and Augusteen Giddens Wynn, was born on December 28, 1973 in Huntington, New York. He departed this life on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Roper Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
"Debo", as he was affectionately called by his family, was reared in Mount Calvary Holiness Church and accepted Christ at an early age. In July 1985, while attending a gospel conference in Virginia Beach, Virginia, he was baptized. As a "preacher's kid", he was very active in Sunday School and the Junior Choir. He loved Christ and truly loved sports.
Kenyon attended the public schools of Washington County, North Carolina, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1991, where he lettered in baseball and football. After graduation, he attended Saint Augustine's College (now University) in Raleigh, NC, where he was a scholar athlete in baseball. His pitching style, strong arms and being the big man on the mound, earned him the nickname Debo. Under the leadership of Coach White, Debo was blessed with the opportunity to be a member of the 1999 CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) Championship baseball team. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
Kenyon was a faithful employee of International Paper Company in Georgetown, SC. He was also a real-life counselor to those in need.
On July 5, 2003, Demetrius married his college sweetheart, Samantha Brooke Green. This union was blessed with four beautiful children, who were the light of his life.
Demetrius joined Wesley African Methodist Episcopal Church, Shulerville, SC, under the leadership of Reverend Hoover L. Footman, and joined Class #3.
Demetrius was a member of Prince Hall Lodge #46, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons and Arabian Temple #139, AEAONMS. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Union.
Demetrius was a hard-working man, whose greatest pleasures were spending time with those he loved and SPORTS! He always had an encouraging word for his friends and was there for his family whenever he was needed. There is no doubt that he loved them with all that was in him, because he would quickly tell anyone that his family is all that mattered.
Loving memories will always be cherished by: his wife, Samantha; his children, Dakarai Terrell, Saleyah Zjahne', Saniyah Imani and Darius Omega Wynn; his siblings, Cynthia Wynn, Rusheem Wynn and Keenan Wynn all of Raleigh, NC and Shakiah Banks-Wynn of Hampton, VA; mother-in-law, Lynne Green of Shulerville, SC; father-in-law, Leon (Renee) Alston of Miami, FL; sisters-in-law, Lakeila (Arthur) Bradley of Miami, FL and Brittani (Bryan) Williams of Huger, SC; brother-in-law, Leon Alston, III of Miami, FL; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
