Obituary

Lawrence "Buck" Hamilton, son of the late Lawrence Hamilton, Sr. and Ruth Crawford Hamilton, was born on June 1, 1945.  He departed his earthly tabernacle of September 3, 2017.

Lawrence's formal education was attained through the Berkeley County School System.  He graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1964.  H e made his home in New York, New York.  He attended John Jay College and NA.C.P. in New York, NY where he received his certification as a Fire Safety Director.

He was a devoted member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in New York City, NY.

Lawrence's tenure included nearly 40 years of service as a Security and Safety Officer at various companies: Equitable Life Assurance Society, Safeguard Management Inc., Statewide Security, and Covenant House/Under 21, all located in New York.  He retired from the Covenant House due to illness.

"Buck", as he was affectionately called, loved his family! He enjoyed telling jokes, fishing, and watching sports; most of all he enjoyed life.  When he traveled home from New York, his goal was to visit with family.  He would talk, smile and laugh; ending each visit with a hug or kiss from him; thereby, you knew you were loved.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother Sam Smith Hamilton and sister, Josephine "Julia" Hamilton Wilson.

He leaves to treasure his fond memories: four sons, Michael Jones, Lawrence Dorsett, Lawrence Rivera all of New York, and Damon Allen of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Ann Marie Rivera, Tocora Kersey, and Dominique Dunmeyer all of New York; sixteen grandchildren: Julio A., Josue A., and Geraldo J. Sueo; Ari J., Tatiana Ruth, and Amber Morales; Lawrence Jr., Aja Emani, Rayon Isaiah, and Darius Cory Dorsett; Kayla Russell, Daron Allen, Kareem Allen, Tiana Talavera, Lawrence, and Najahi (Nana); great-grand, Joshua X.
