Lela A. Turner, also known as Anne, the daughter of the late Josh and Ola Mae Turner, was born on October 10, 1940 in Decatur, GA. She departed this life on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, SC. At a very early age, Ann relocated to Boston, MA, where she attended the public schools of Boston where she was very active until graduating from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. Upon graduation, Ann began working at Prudential Insurance Company. While in Boston, MA, Ann became a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she sang on the choir for a number of years. She later joined Refuge Church, Boston, MA, where she received the Holy Ghost. Upon relocating to South Carolina, she attended Word In Life Christian Fellowship Church and Triumphant Church. Ann married her high school sweetheart, Thomas L. Hutchinson. From this union, five children were born. Two sons, Walter L. Hutchinson and Mark W. Hutchinson, preceded her in death. Later on in life, Ann moved to Dracut, MA and attended Haverhill Community College where she received her Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement. Ann was always a firm believer in higher education and instilled this value in her children. She later attended Emory College in Atlanta, GA Ann was employed with the: Dracut (MA) Police Department, Municipal Police (MA) Department, Decatur (GA) Police Department and Charleston (SC) Police Department where she retired from. Ann really loved cooking and baking, her specialty was a good pot of collard greens at Christmas and a good pot of chitterlings for her children to enjoy. Ann loved and was loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be truly missed. She leaves to mourn her passing: three children, Thomas C. Hutchinson and Tanya Y. Roach both of Goose Creek, SC and Stacey A. (Anthony) Wilson of Stone Mountain, GA; eight grandchildren, Tyler Hutchinson of Georgia, Kristina Hutchinson and Sean Gibbs both of Florida, Elyssa Hutchinson, Leah Hutchinson and Trevor Hutchinson all of Massachusetts, Lauren Davila and Nicholas Roach both of South Carolina; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Turner of New York and Ralph Turner of Massachusetts; in-laws, Thomas Hutchinson, Betty Hutchinson and Minnie Hutchinson all of Summerville, SC; special friends, Karen Linscott of South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
