Mr. Leroy Crawford Haynes, Sr., affectionately known as "Half Pint", was the son of the late Ms. Susan Haynes and the late Mr. George Reid, Sr. He was born on August 3, 1925, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. On Friday evening, January 15, 2016, at 5:15 p.m., he departed his earthly life at his home.

Leroy was educated in the Berkeley County public schools. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946.

At an early age, he became a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, which later became Moncks Corner African Methodist Episcopal Church. He served as a faithful member of the Trustee Board. He was a member of Moncks Corner Lodge #323, F.&A.M., PHA.

Leroy was united in Holy Wedlock to his true love Earthalee Reid on September 4, 1944. This union was blessed with eight children. His wife and three children, Gene, Leroy Jr. and Patricia Haynes preceded him in death.

Leroy loved farming, working in the garden, fishing and hunting. He was a carpenter and loved building things. He was employed by J. W. Jones Building Supply Company and Thornley Construction from where he retired.

Leroy was preceded in death by seven siblings: Mrs. Bernice Williams, Mrs. Geneva Copeland, Mrs. Helen Darby, Mrs. Ruth Robinson, Mr. Joseph Reid, Mr. Fred Sinclair Reid and Mr. Peter Sidney Reid.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Mrs. Ermena Marion (William), Mrs. Susan Major (Donald), Mrs. Ida Davis, Mr. Richard Lee Haynes, Sr. and Mr. Gerald Haynes all of Moncks Corner, SC; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Haynes of Moncks Corner, SC; two sisters, Mrs. Verdelle Williams (Brister) and Mrs. Viola Rogers both of Moncks Corner, SC; two brothers, Mr. George Reid, Jr. (Rev. Lillie Mae) of Moncks Corner, SC and Mr. Clarence Reid (Carolyn) of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren: Tyrone J. Marion, Shawn A. Haynes, Billy T. Haynes, Reggie Thompson, Hellenia Y. Haynes, Lashanda Davis, Donnell T. Haynes, Mattie L. Haynes and Tammy J. Haynes; twenty great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
