Leroy Goodman, Sr., son of the late Frank and Whilemenia Goodman, was born on July 7, 1943 in Alvin, SC. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at his residence in Alvin, SC. Leroy was educated in the Berkeley County School System. At an early age, he joined Holly Hill Christian Church where he found and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Leroy was united in Holy Matrimony to Peggy Jean Shaw on August 21, 1965. This union was blessed with four children. Peggy Jean preceded him in death on May 14, 2005. Leroy was a loving man. To know him was to love him. He was a self-employed logger for many years. He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Parrielea "TD" (Alfredia) Shaw of Moncks Corner, SC, Tony Conyers of North Carolina, and Shane Leroy Goodman of Alvin, SC; one daughter, Mallisha (Dwayne) Heath of Newton, NC; eight grandchildren, Mikal and Kerrington Shaw, Jalaya Burden, Lateria and Brandon Goodman, Terrell, Devin and Cameron Heath; two brothers, Rev. Franklin Goodman and Rev. Charlie (Rev. Mary Ann) Goodman; one sister, Willie Mae Ragin; four sisters-in-law, Connie Nelson, Bertha Tyson, Helen Shaw, and Sara Ann Shaw; one brother-in-law, Herman "Dougie" Shaw; three aunts, Pearlie Mae Gethers, Virginia Jones, and Dorothy Maybank; a special nephew he reared as his own, Craig Nelson; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Brown and Harold Goodman; and a sister, Ida Lou Brown.
