Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2012, God dispatched His angels to gather one of His very own, one who labored in God's vineyard and went about doing good for so many years. Lillie Mae Adkinson Jackson, the daughter of the late John Adkinson and Mary Kelly Adkinson, was born on February 22, 1919, in Alvin, South Carolina. Coly, as she was affectionately called, was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. She was a domestic worker who enjoyed quilting, fishing and cooking. Coly was known for making the best jelly cakes. Coly was brought up in a Christian home. At an early age, she became a member of Holly Hill Christian Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was most proud of her relationship with God. Coly loved God and would tell everyone she came in contact with about Him and His goodness. Coly was united in holy matrimony to Jimmy Jackson. He preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing: three sons, Robert Lee (Diane) Adkinson of Baltimore, MD, Joseph (Valerie) Jackson of Moncks Corner, SC and Kenneth (Yvette) Jackson of Stone Mountain, GA; two daughters, Ada (St. Julian) Bennett of Ladson, SC and Mary Linda Jackson (William) Wright of the home; twenty-three grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; twenty-four great, great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maggie Fordham of Baltimore, MD and Bessie Hickson of Florence, SC; one sister-in-law, Margaret Adkinson of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Our beloved was preceded in death by: three children, Willie Adkinson, Ida Bell Jackson and Jimmy Lee McQueen; three sisters and two brothers.
