Obituary

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die. - Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a A Time to Be Born: Lillie Belle Matthews was born October 15, 1938, in Jamestown, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Johnny and Annie Calvin Matthews. A Time to Learn: "Bell", as she was known to everyone, attended Jamestown Elementary School, Jamestown, SC. A Time to Every Purpose under the Heaven: Bell accepted the Lord and Savior as her personal Savior and became a member of New Emmanuel AME Church. With the assistance from her niece, Almena Wright, Bell continued her attendance after she became a resident of Lake Moultrie Nursing Home, St. Stephen, SC. She enjoyed singing and spending time with her family. Her favorite songs were, "Lord, I Want to Be A Christian", and "I'm Going Home on the Morning Train." A Time to Grow: Bell attended Berkley Industries Sheltered Workshop, Moncks Corner, SC, for many years; there, she performed job duties that assisted her in learning many different work skills. A Time to Die: Bell was called home to rest from her labor on Saturday, November 23, 2013. A Time to Mourn: She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sisters: Norveree Matthews Vice, Jamestown, SC and Annie Matthews, Jr., Moncks Corner, SC; two nephews, Rev. Jerel O.
