My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. - Psalms 73:26 Lillie Ann Tingman-Major, daughter of the late Julius Tingman and Martha Campbell-Tingman, was born on July 18, 1939, in Bonneau, South Carolina. Lillie was called home to glory on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, South Carolina. Lillie relocated to Albany, New York, in June 1970, and resided there until returning to Charleston, South Carolina, in September 1995. Lillie spent her final years in Columbia, South Carolina. Lillie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Alfred Major Jr. on June 25, 1960; from this marriage, four children were born. Lillie was a member of St. Peters A.M.E. Church in Bonneau, South Carolina, where she sang on the Senior Choir. She enjoyed crocheting, beading and making floral arrangements. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Martha Tingman; sister, Dorothy Gilbert; and her beloved son, Alfred "Champ" Major. She leaves to cherish her many precious memories: her husband, Alfred Major Jr.; her children, Alfreda Major, Annette Major, Linnette Major-Alcock; adopted sons, Stacy (Laurie) Rodd, Kelly Rodd; her sister, Ethel (Bennie) Mackey; sisters-in-law: Geraldine Major, Delores May, Martina Patterson, Ida Major; brother-in-law, Nathaniel (Essie) Richardson; one special nephew, Tahki Gilbert; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other devoted family and friends.
