Louis Charles "L.C." Waiters, formerly of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, peacefully slipped away on May 8, 2021 in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
Louis was born February 21, 1940 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina to Joseph Waiters Sr. and Henrietta Liferidge. He was raised in Moncks Corner. As a child, he attended Wesley United Methodist Church. Louis began working at an early age to help support his family. He worked at R&W, the only appliance store in town. Not only did he attend Berkeley Training High School, but he drove the school bus picking up students before and after attending school. After graduation, Louis moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he worked at a number of factories before he landed a job at Necco Candy Factory.
While employed at Necco, Louis met the love of his life, Rebecca Gavin. The two were married a short time later. Louis became the doting father of three children: Rodney, Wanda and Sonia.
Louis and Rebeca eventually moved to Newark, New Jersey where he became a member of Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church and served on the Men's Board, Choir and Kitchen Staff.
Louis worked for Nu-Car Carrier in Port Newark for 31 years until he retired. As Louis' health began to decline, Louis and Rebecca relocated to Toano, Virginia with their daughter Sonia.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Henrietta Waiters; brother, Joseph Waiters Jr.; son, Rodney Waiters; and great-grandson, Kalvin Stallings.
Louis is survived by: his loving wife of 53 years, Rebecca Waiters; daughters, Wanda Stallings-Walker (Marvin) of Boston, Massachusetts and Sonia Waiters-Sellers (Calvin) of Newark, New Jersey; grandchildren, Kevin Stallings (La'Keisha), Shanté Waiters, Cheraé Sellers, Jordan Stallings and Kevin Sellers; great-grandchildren, Ja'lah Stallings, Angel Stallings, Nyia Waiters and Alana Waiters; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 17, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at O. Allen Gethers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Old Nazareth Cemetery, Pinopolis, SC.
