Louis Alton Elijah Ravenell, Jr., affectionately known as "Jazzy Lou" and "Mr. Peanut Man", was born in St. Stephen, SC on December 17, 1941, a son of the late Elijah and Louise Ravenell. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Louis was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. After his schooling, he moved to New York City. There he learned various trades. He was a fast learner and enjoyed learning new things. Louis was a devoted and dedicated worker at his church, Christ Fellowship. He was enthusiastic about his job as Camera Technician at Christ Fellowship. He thoroughly enjoyed taping the church services. He loved working with the youth in the church and the community. He was the founder of the Angel Singers of Alice Temple Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Louis loved the Lord deeply from his heart. He would spend many hours reading and studying the word of God from an old Bible left by his father. His second love was his family. Louis always loved to make people laugh, especially his family. Every time you saw him he wore a big smile and waved. He had a unique style and view on life. He was confident no matter if he was wearing his Sunday best or work clothes. To know him, was to love him. Louis' love for driving started with being a cab driver in New York City for several years. For many years, Louis worked as a printer for Royal Typography in New York City. He left Royal Typography to go into business as a service station owner along with his brother, Thomas. This was the beginning of Louis' love for entrepreneurship. He owned and managed several businesses, some of which were: a vegetable and fruit stand, Icee stand, Christian Bookstore and St. Stephen Skating Rink. His latest business venture was selling peanuts and pork rinds. His great tasting peanuts earned him the name, Mr. Peanut Man. Louis was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Ravenell and three sisters, Metta Tucker, Ruth Cookley and Margaret Ravenell. Louis leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved daughter, Cherish Joy Judge of Brooklyn, NY; one grandson, Aquerio Gadsden of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Bishop Jeremiah Ravenell (Mazie) of St. Stephen, SC; five sisters, Naomi Cannon of Lexington, SC, Hattie Ravenell, Mercie Ravenell and Ilease Ravenell all of St. Stephen, SC and Elaine Bynum of St. Albans, NY; one sister-in-law, Ann R.
