Obituary

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) Mrs. Louise Chatman Brown Hammond, the daughter of the late Moses Chatman and Lillian Gethers Chatman, was born on March 22, 1932 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. In the early morning of June 13, 2013, the Lord dispatched His angels to her residence to fly her away to Glory, where there is no more troubles and sickness. It will now be Hallelujah and Praise the Lord. At an early age, Louise accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of St. Paul's Reformed Episcopal Church and served there until it was destroyed by fire in 1963. She then joined the fellowship with Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church where she served faithfully as a member of the Pulpit Aide Society until her health began to fail. As a youth, Louise attended the public schools of Berkeley County. She was employed by the William Heller Corporation. Louise was married to James Brown, Sr. This union was blessed with seven children. On June 24, 1967, she was united in Holy Matrimony to William Hammond, who preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish many blessed memories: two daughters, Eleanor "Shirley" Armstrong and Lillian "Baye" Brown both of Moncks Corner, SC; five sons, James Brown, Jr. of Newark, NJ, Lewis Brown and Dannie Brown both of Moncks Corner, SC, Kerven Brown (Sharon) of Augusta, GA and Ricky Brown (Tricia) of Moncks Corner, SC; one sister, Ruth Milligan (Albert); three sisters-in-law, Louise Chatman, Elizabeth Chatman and Altamese Duncan; fourteen grandchildren (one of whom preceded her in death); seventeen great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
