Obituary

Louise Thompson Lloyd, lovingly called "Miss Wease", the daughter of the late Henry Thompson and the late Rosa Shine Thompson, was born on November 7, 1923 in the Whitesville Community of Moncks Corner, SC. She was the eighth of eleven children. On July 21, 2015, God reached down, plucked a flower from his garden, and Louise entered into eternal rest. Louise attended the public schools of Berkeley County. She was raised in a Christian home. She received Christ at an early age and joined Wesley United Methodist Church in Pinopolis, SC where she was a faithful member. She later relocated to Charleston, SC and worked at the Cigar Factory on East Bay Street. Louise met the love of her life, and on September 26, 1945, she was united in Holy Matrimony to George Lloyd. Together they resided in Cordesville, SC. To this union four children were born. Louise joined Emanuel A.M.E. Church after her marriage. She served there faithfully until her health declined. She served as an Usher, Class Leader and Sunday School Treasurer. She also was a member of the Praying Band. Louise worked a variety of jobs, but her most treasured job was school bus driving for 17 years. She was recognized in 1986 for safely evacuating 22 elementary school students and herself from a burning school bus. Louise enjoyed baking, ceramics, traveling, fishing, photography, collecting newspaper articles, vegetable and flower gardening. Louise loved her family. She enjoyed traveling across the United States to visit family and friends. In her lifetime, she touched the lives of many children. Louise demonstrated strong faith in God. Throughout her illness she continued to sing, pray and joyfully respond to the Holy Scriptures. She never lost her sense of humor. Louise was proceeded in death by her husband, George Lloyd; and her siblings: Alma Johnson, Maggie Judge, Frank England, Elizabeth Gethers, Juliann England, John Henry Thompson, Leroy Thompson, Rosa Bell Chisolm, Oliver Thompson and Ruby Wright. Louise leaves behind to cherish a life well lived: four sons, Henry D. (Ann) Thompson, George G. Lloyd, Elliott (Vera) Lloyd, Harvey (Mitzi) Lloyd; one daughter, Karen Lloyd Tucker; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Many thanks to her caregivers. Special thanks to Paula White, Gwendolyn Jefferson and Kenya Vance.
