IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise B.
Whitaker
January 30, 1931 – June 17, 2017
Louise Beauford Whitaker, the daughter of the late Gilyard Beauford and the late Lular Taylor-Beauford, was born on January 30, 1931 in Jamestown, South Carolina. She departed this life on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Louise, who was also called "Sister" or "Wease" by all who loved her, earned her high school diploma from Avery High School in 1950.
Louise accepted Christ at an early age, when she joined Liberty R.E. Church. She was a faithful member until she transferred her membership to New Emanuel A.M.E. Church to follow her husband.
She was united in holy matrimony to Roy Whitaker, Sr. on April 21, 1951. They were blessed to have five children. One son preceded her in death.
Louise was a true soldier of God. She served as the Church Secretary (over 25 years), YPD President, Women's Missionary Society President, Usher Board President, Young Adult Choir President, Senior Choir President, and Class #4 Leader. She also served on the Steward Board and many program committees.
In her faithful work for the Lord, she was always trying to better her community. She served on the MLK Committee and the JSCS Community Center Committee. Not only did she serve, she was always encouraging others to do positive things to uplift the community.
Louise could always be found sewing, making quilts for others, gardening, fishing, baking, feeding the kids in the community, and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Roy Whitaker, Sr. (husband), Roy Jerome Whitaker, Jr. (son), Quamaine "Gerard" Whitaker (grandson), Lizzie Hawkins (sister), Thomas Beauford (brother), and Douglas Beauford (brother).
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: her four daughters, Janesces Milford, Mozelle Whitaker, Thelma Davis, and Leotha Whitaker of Savannah Creek, SC; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Theresa Little, Bertha Mae Brunson, and Albert Beauford of Savannah Creek, SC; Betty Beauford of Harlem, NY; Yvonne Beauford of Englewood, NJ; Sarah Beauford of Hackensack, NJ; Willie James (Angie) Beauford of Darlington, SC; and Gilbert (Cynthia) Beauford of Teaneck, NJ; sister-in-law, Flora Mae Beauford of Savannah Creek, SC; two aunts, Bernice Taylor of Savannah Creek, SC, and Mae Louise Taylor of Baltimore, MD; a special friend who she considered a son, Dean Hill, Sr.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
