Mabel Walker Clark, daughter of the late Zimmie and Dessie Walker, was born on January 19, 1928 in Summerville, South Carolina. She was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, South Carolina.
Mabel was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, South Carolina. She retired from Presbyterian Home of Summerville after 20 years of employment. She was a gardener, a songster, intercessor, prayer warrior and dedicated bible scholar.
Mabel was a faithful member of New Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Sheep Island Community, Summerville, SC. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She served as the church clerk for many years. She was a Class Leader, Steward, choir leader and member. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Her desire was to share the good news of Jesus Christ to all she met by singing hymns and reading scriptures.
She was preceded in death by: her husband of 48 years, Loyless Clark; sons, Andrew Clark and Loyless Jeremiah Clark; brothers, Raymond, George and Lewis Walker; and sisters, Maggie Cokely, Albertha Moorer and Nellie Lawrence.
Mabel leaves to cherish her memories: children, Gladys Tucker, Alice (Sidney) Green, Linda (Ronal Manigault) Clark, Sylvia Judy (David) Laribo, Valerie (Cedric) Owen and George (Pamela) Clark; grandchildren, Leonard V. Tucker, Annettria Warren, Justin (Stacy) Clark, Benjamin (Maleaha) Owen, Joshua Tucker, Dayna Laribo, Sandrica Clark, Allison Laribo, Jasmine Owen, Loyless J. Clark III and Katelynn Clark; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leona Doiley, Rosena Butler and Elease (Herman) Davis; and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Home Going Celebration Service will be held Monday, November 4, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at Greater St. James AME Church, 1831 Jedburg Road, Summerville, SC. Burial will be in Sheep Island Community Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
