Malcy Mae Campbell, affectionately known as "Doris", was born on February 8, 1949 in McClellanville, South Carolina. On the morning of November 7, 2023, at Roper St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, SC, Malcy was peacefully called home.
Malcy was educated in the public schools of Charleston County, SC, and graduated from Lincoln High School in the Class of 1966. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York and attended Mid Manhattan Adult Education Center. She was employed as a Bank Teller. She relocated back to South Carolina where she worked as a housekeeper in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Malcy, at an early age, accepted Christ as her Savior. She was a member of Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board and the Nancy G. Glover Women's Missionary Society.
Malcy was united in holy matrimony to Richard "Jack" Campbell, Jr.
Malcy was preceded in death by: her parents, Mr. Mott and Mrs. Dianna Blake; her brothers, Wilmott Blake, Elijah Blake and Jerry Blake.
She is survived by: her husband, Richard Campbell, Jr.; her loving daughters, Patricia Winns (Tyrone) of Atlanta, GA, Melissa Campbell of McClellanville, SC, and Crystal Campbell of Moncks Corner, SC; her stepson, James Martin of New York; sister, Eva Brown of McClellanville, SC; baby sister, Louise Garrett Brown (Thomas) of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, David Blake (Nora) Summerville, SC and Joe Blake (Sheryln) of McClellanville, SC; grandson she raised as her own, Vontrez Campbell; grandchildren, Davonte Winns, DeAndre Campbell, Xavier Winns, Alexandria Holmes, Angel Holmes, Elisha Mitchell, Daeja Greene, Richard Campbell III, and Shakerra Greene; seven great-grandchildren; two adopted sons, Curtis Blake and Jermaine Green; special cousins, Mary Alston and James Boykin; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Blake, Albertha Blake, Leola Alston, and Jeanette Smith (David); brothers-in-law, Harold Campbell (Ella Mae) of New York; special friends, Mattie Simmons of McClellanville, SC and Carolyn Watson of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, 12:00 p.m., at Greater Mt. Zion AME Church, 789 South Santee Road, McClellanville, SC. Viewing will be held Saturday from 11:00 until the time of service. Interment will be in Old Board Cemetery.
