Margaret Ruth Wright Singleton, daughter of the late Leroy and Annie Mae Wright, was born in Bonneau, South Carolina on November 9, 1952. She departed this life Friday morning June 16, 2023.
Margaret Ruth received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC.
At an early age, Margaret Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of St. Mark AME Church, Bonneau, SC where she was a dedicated member. She served faithfully as a Church School Teacher and Head Stewardess.
On June 15, 1974, she was joined in holy matrimony to Amos Singleton who preceded her in death. To this union three children were born.
Margaret Ruth was a kind and charitable person who did not hesitate to help anyone in need. She loved children, sports, plants, and traveling. She will be remembered for her big heart and her quiet presence.
Margaret Ruth leaves to cherish precious memories: a son Anthony (Keyshonna) Singleton of St. Stephen, SC; two daughters, Mareesa Janell Singleton and friend Cleveland Pinkney III both of Sumter, SC and Stephanie Singleton of Bonneau, SC; five grandchildren, Ashley Clark, Anthony Singleton II, and Beverly Singleton all of Syracuse, NY, Cleveland Pinkney IV and Marley Pinkney both of Sumter, SC; one great granddaughter Maven Clark of Syracuse, NY; one brother, Charles (Celia Ann) Wright of Bonneau, SC; five sisters, Lottie Mae (Albert) Harris, Doris Ann McHoney, Betty (Daniel) Smalls, Rose (Steve) Davis all of St. Stephen, SC and Gail (John) Nelson of Bonneau, SC; one brother-in-law, Alton Singleton of Bronx, NY; four sisters-in-law, Sadie R. Brown of Philadelphia, PA and Elizabeth Singleton, Irene (Barney) Morris, Virginia Singleton all of Bonneau, SC; one uncle, Herbert Savage of Bonneau, SC; two aunts, Dorothy Winns of Bonneau, SC and Mable Lewis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; special niece and caregiver Diamond Smith; and a host of relatives and friends.
Margaret Ruth was preceded in death by one sister Lula Bell Wright and two brothers, Henry Lee Wright and Roscoe Wright.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at Greater St. Mark AME Church, 918 Black Oak Road, Bonneau, SC. Interment, church cemetery. Viewing will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
