Mary J. Gadsden, the daughter of late Thomas and Rosa Lee Wright, was born on May 9, 1940 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She departed this life on April 28, 2015 at her residence. Mother Gadsden was educated in the Berkeley County Public School System. She was a member of Greater St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bonneau, SC where she served faithfully. Mother Gadsden was united in Holy Matrimony on October 13, 1958 to William Gadsden of the Forty-One Community. This union was blessed with 10 children. She was a very reserved, strong-minded and a nurturing woman. Her family was her main priority. She enjoyed fishing and tending to her flowers. Mother Gadsden was preceded in death by: two daughters, Vivian Gadsden and Mary Washington; a sister, Emma Jane Campbell and a brother, Herman Wright. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband, William Gadsden; her children, Napolean (Yvonne) Gadsden and William Gadsden, Jr. of St. Stephen, SC, Juanita Adams of Bonneau, SC, Benjamin (Katrina) Gadsden of Timmonsville, SC, Ronald Gadsden of Bonneau, SC, Barbara (Percy) White of Fayetteville, NC, Emory (Katina) Gadsden and Latechia (Antuan) Faison of Bonneau, SC; a granddaughter reared in the home, Iesha Washington of Bonneau, SC; five sisters, Gracie Wright, Blondell (David) Frost, Marteen Wright and Amelia Wright all of Bonneau, SC and Sandy Wright of Ladson, SC; seven brothers, Thomas Lee Wright of Manhattan, NY, James (Bertha Lee) Wright, Joseph (Almena) Wright, Henry (Bertha) Wright, Bobby Wright and William (Linda) Wright all of Bonneau, SC and Benjamin Smith of Detroit, MI; eighteen (18) grandchildren; fifteen (15) great-grandchildren; special friends, Helen Rollerson, Annie Mae Nelson, Sally McHoney, Jerry Thompson and Rosa S. Jenkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
