Mrs. Mary Johnson McClennon, the daughter of the late Lee Johnson and Anna T. Golden, was born November 18, 1924 in Kingstree, SC. She was reared in Bonneau, SC by her grandmother, Mrs. Martha Taylor. Mary departed this life July 13, 2018 at her home.

Mary was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. After marriage, she joined St. Peters African Methodist Episcopal Church and later, Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served on the Pastor's Aid Board, Women's Missionary Society and the Ministers' Spouses, Widows and Widowers Organization plus P. K.

Mary was joined in Holy Matrimony to Melvin A. McClennon on June 10, 1944, and given the pet name "Tee Mae". To this union, nine children were born. One son, Christopher C. McClennon, and two great-granddaughters preceded her in death. She was alo preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Lee Pinckney and Elsie Hunter.

Rev. Melvin and Mrs. Mary were co-entrepreneurs as grocery store owners and farmers - "McClennon's Farm". Mary had a passion for gardening vegetables and flowers. She loved sharing the harvest with others in the community. Mary was also well known for her excellent baking skills.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory: her husband of 74 years, Rev. Melvin A. McClennon, Sr.; eight children, Mrs. Mary B. Seaward of Terre Haute, IN, Mrs. Catherine L. Smith (Harvey) of Decatur, GA, Reverend Sterling D. McClennon (Eartha) of Enterprise, AL, Mrs. Barbra M. Lucas, Mr. Melvin A. McClennon, Jr., Mrs. Julia M. Wright, Mr. Preston McClennon and Mr. Darria A. McClennon of St. Stephen, SC; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grand; sisters, Mrs. Emma J. Geddis of Sumter, SC, Mrs. Rebecca J. Sumpter of St. Stephen, and Mrs. Rosa Golden Bailey of Flower Mound, TX; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church, 280 Hood Street, St. Stephen, SC. Viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Gethers Funeral Home Inc., 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. A wake will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at GETHERS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 221 Church Road, ST. STEPHEN, SC.
