Mother Mary Middleton Vice, affectionately called "Meme", was the daughter of the late Mr. Waiter Middleton and Mrs. Mary Jane Middleton. She was born on January 8, 1919 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. On Monday, December 15, 2008, at 8:30 am, she transitioned from Earth to Glory. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at St. Stephen Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. As a devoted Christian, she was an active member of the Christian Aide Society. Mother Mary was educated in the schools of Berkeley County. In January 1941, Mary Middleton was joined in Holy Matrimony to Harris Vice, Sr. From this union, seven children were born and/or reared. Her husband, two children and one great-grandchild preceded her to the grave. Her loving memories will always be cherished in the hearts of: her children, Annie Mae Vice of Bronx, NY, Virginia (Leon) Taylor, Harris (Dora) Vice, Jr. both of St. Stephen, SC, Christola Woods of New York, NY and Angela Middleton of Baltimore, MD; twelve loving grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elouise Middleton of St. Stephen, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
