Mattie Rebecca Dingle, a daughter of Louisa Jones and Peter Dingle, Sr., was born November 24, 1919 in Pineville, South Carolina. She was one of fourteen children. Mattie joined Day Dawn Baptist Church at an early age and remained active until her health failed. After graduating from high school, Mattie attended South Carolina State College (University), Orangeburg, SC where she earned a Bachelor's degree. Later, she earned a Master of Education Degree from South Carolina State College. Mattie also earned Master of Education Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Mattie taught in the Berkeley County School District for more than 40 years before retiring. Mattie loved her family. Remembering her with love are: her sister, Dr. Hattie Dingle Martin; one sister-in-law Mable Dingle, "sister-in-law" Mary Ditaranto (Brooklyn, NY); her nieces: Elizabeth Burton, Ruth Bailey, Joan Dingle, Patricia Dingle, Louise Jackson, Patricia Killpack (Daniel), Linda Jackson, Diane Jones (Lewis), Kathy Rodriguez; her nephews: Edmund Dingle, Andre' Dingle (Vernellia), Dr. John Dingle (Dr. Peggy), and Kevin Dingle (Theresa Stroisch). Also remembering her are great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, former students, and her church family. To Mattie Mattie, we've told you countless times over countless years how much we love you. You taught us, prayed for us, and showed us what love looks like in the most gentle and sweet way. You watched over us and gave freely of yourself. You loved your family as Christ instructs us to love. You loved as only Mattie could have loved us. Thank you God for blessing us with Mattie.
