Obituary

Maurice Legree, son of Sam Legree and Beulah Hamilton Legree, born April 29, 1957 in South Side, Chicago, Illinois.

Maurice received his education in the schools of Chicago. He served his country in the United States Navy.  After his honorable discharge, he was employed at Hines Veterans Administration Medical Center, Hines, IL.

Maurice was a fun loving person who enjoyed life to the fullest.  He had a great sense of humor and would brighten any room he entered. He loved dancing and stepping. He was also talented and played the organ. He was known for being fashionable, always wearing suits. His favorite quotes were, "You see me" and "Put that 'G' in your heart". He liked his friends to call him "Reese Sconey, King of all Kings".

Maurice departed this life at his residence on August 10, 2016.

Those left to cherish his memory: his wife, Wanda Kyler Legree of Capitol Heights, MD; father, Sam Legree of Pineville, SC; daughter, Kimberly (Larry) Henderson of Chicago, IL; son, Antwone Panio of  Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Lauren Kimberly Henderson of Chicago, IL; brother, Samuel (MaEva) Legree, Jr. of Pineville, SC; sister, Denise Legree Jackson of Chicago, IL; stepson, Gerald Otis Newman; nieces and nephews, Meshelle (Greshman) Fortune, Nichole Strong, Edward Ben (Nakia) Cole III, Jenaine Cole and Leslie Jackson; great-nieces and great-nephews; aunt, Katie L. Barron; and in-laws.

He also leaves loving cousins: the Middletons of Moncks Corner, SC, the Williams of Walterboro, SC, the Prioleaus of St. Stephen, SC, the Barrons of Jacksonville, FL, the Judges of St. Stephen and Pineville, SC, the Legrees of Miami, FL, the Mitchells of Pineville, SC and the Washingtons of Charleston, SC; best and loving friends of South Side, Chicago, IL; Solomon of Chicago, IL; Earl and Jean of St. Stephen, SC; the Showes Family of Atlanta, GA and his childhood sweetheart "Sugar."

Maurice was preceded in death by his mother Beulah Legree and sister Cynthia Legree Cole.
