Minnie Johnson Gibbs, a daughter of the late David and Lillie Mae Brown Johnson, was born March 5, 1950 in Berkeley County, SC.  She entered into eternal life with the Lord on October 28, 2017.

Minnie was a 1968 graduate of Berkeley Training High School and a 1972 graduate of South Carolina State College.  She furthered her education and earned a Master degree in Library Science from South Carolina State University and a Master degree in Education specializing in Library Science from The Citadel.  Most of Minnie's working career was at Sedgefield Middle School, Goose Creek, SC where she worked as a Media Specialist.  She later transferred to Berkeley Middle School, Moncks Corner, SC. She enjoyed working with children. After retirement, she obtained her license to sell insurance and became an agent with Primerica.

As a child, Minnie attended Moncks Corner AME Church. After marriage, she transferred her membership to Mt. Carmel AME Church where she served faithfully.  She was an active member of the Steward Board, Spiritual Wings Choir, the Emily C. Jones Women's Missionary Society, and the Lay Organization.  Minnie was dedicated to the Lay Organization.  She was the local Lay President, local Director of Lay activities, Kingstree District President, Kingstree District Director of Lay Activities, Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary of the Palmetto Conference.  She attended Lay Biennials and several General Conferences of the AME Church.

Minnie was united in holy matrimony to Clarence Gibbs on December 18, 1971.

Her hobbies included: online shopping, baking, collecting antiques, traveling, financial literacy, cruising, spending time with family, and discovering the unknown in life.  She was also a faithful, active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
