IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Minnie E.
Hutchinson
June 10, 1921 – September 23, 2016
Mother Minnie Hutchinson, the second of seven children born to Paul and Serena Frost Crawford, was born on June 10, 1921 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, September 23, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Her siblings: O'Neal, Franklin, Joseph (Joe), Arthur, Gladys and Lewis all preceded her in death. Minnie lived her early life in Moncks Corner, SC where she attended the public schools of Berkeley County.
On May 4, 1939, the former Minnie Crawford, met and married Walter Lawrence Hutchinson of Moncks Corner, SC. This union was blessed with two children, Betty Jean and Thomas (Tommy) Lawrence Hutchinson. She also raised Gwendolyn Crawford from an early age. Minnie and Walter worked together in New York and Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. After residing in Moncks Corner for several years, they moved the family to Boston, MA. Minnie worked at Morgan Laundry and then the Polaroid Corporation and after 30 years, retired in 1987.
Mother Hutchinson received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Boston, MA in 1980, under the pastorate of the late Honorary Apostle Theodore Hester. During her years at Refuge Church, she worked with the Prayer Band and gave a helping hand to the Missionaries and supported many other auxiliaries and functions.
Minnie was quiet but strong, wise, very caring and generous. She never spoke ill of anyone, always giving the other person the benefit of the doubt.
After the passing of her husband Walter, Mother Hutchinson and family moved back to South Carolina where she enjoyed living in the Summerville area. She joined and was a faithful member and Church Mother of Triumphant Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ under the pastorate of her late brother, Elder Joseph Crawford. Even at the age of 95, her mind and sight was very sharp. She read her Bible every morning, Psalm 91 being one of her favorite scriptures. She was able to conduct her financial affairs to the very end.
The
doors to her home were opened from Boston to Summerville and scores of family, friends and strangers were always welcomed and offered food. How could you resist her fricassee chicken, peas and rice, red rice, leg of lamb and okra soup! She was called the UNIVERSAL AUNTIE!
Mother Hutchinson took care of all of her siblings with love and tender care throughout her entire life. She gave homecare to her mother and two brothers, Franklin and Arthur Crawford. She was considered a mother, sister, friend, advisor, listener and hard worker. To Betty, she was a loving mother and mentor. To Tommy, she was a mother of wisdom and caring and he in turn was a very attentive and caring son to her. She was a mother in deed to her children from birth to the time she departed.
She leaves to cherish her enduring and unfading memory: her loving children, Betty Jean Hutchinson, Thomas (Tommy) Hutchinson and Gwendolyn Crawford; three grandchildren, Thomas Chris Hutchinson (Anne), Tanya Yvette Roach and Stacey Ann Wilson (Anthony); ten great-grandchildren, Troy, Ryan, Kristina, Sean, Leah, Trevor, Lauren, Nicholas, Elyssa and Tyler; four great, great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Mother Evelyn Crawford; a niece who was like a daughter, Mother Anna Shelton; a special loving niece, Sandra Wright; a host of nieces and nephews, Barbara Daniels, Willie Dean Hutchinson, Joseph, Jacqueline, Cynthia, Joan, Stanley, Nita, Shirley, Michael, John, Kenney, Chuckie, Larry, Sandy, Bishop Anthony Hamby, Claudia and Deacon Johnny Hutchinson; numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Walter (Wally) Hutchinson and Mark Wade Hutchinson.
