Obituary

Moses Jones, son of the late Robert Jones and Rachel Anderson Jones, was born on January 23, 1944 in Pineville, South Carolina. He was called home to eternal rest on Wednesday morning, January 22, 2020 at his residence.

Moses received the majority of his education through the Berkeley County School System. He attended Russellville High School and later relocated with his brother, Willie Jones to Miami, FL, where he completed high school and later completed a business school.

Moses accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church.

He was employed for over 41 years in the chemical field. He was employed at a supervisor by Montrals Chemical in Newark, NJ from 1965-1969. He later worked at Kendrick Chemical in Bayonne, NJ from 1969-1979. He relocated his family to South Carolina in November of 1979 and started working at Georgia-Pacific Chemicals in Russellville, SC. He became a supervisor in 1984 until he retired from there in 2006. He was over the Slug Drive Department at Georgia-Pacific Chemicals, where he was able to train his two nephews, Alphonso and Jerome Blanding in the chemical field. He was also on the Trustee Board at the Eadytown Fire Department.

Moses was first married to Maxine Ravenell on March 26, 1967. They were united for over 24 years. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1984. This union was blessed with four children: Brenda, Moses Jr., Anthony and Derrick Jones. Maxine, Moses Jr., Anthony O. and Derrick K. Jones all preceded him in death. His baby girl Brenda, deeply misses her family.

Moses later met and married Valerie Washington on November 1, 1991. They were united for 28 years. Moses was blessed with two bonus daughters, Chidarrell Palmer and Ishia Washington. Ishia preceded him in death on November 14, 2019.

Moses leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Valerie Washington Jones; his daughters, Brenda Jones Greene and Chidarrell Palmer; his grandchildren, Captain Desmine Q. (Deloshier) Greene, Kayla R. Greene, Derrick S. Greene, Jr., Alayah M. Jones, Yasmine L.A. Glaze, Trinity L. Gattis, Brian I. Gattis, Jr., Elijah L. Palmer, Landon L. Glaze, Kelci L. Glaze, Caden L. Glaze, Derieek K. Jones and Dereon Jones; great-grandchildren, Cameron Z. Greene and Isaiah Q. Greene; siblings, Victoria Benekin, Loretta Green, Willie (Versalle) Jones and Joseph Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucy Snell, Ruby L. Bryant, Thelma Z. Spann, Ruth Owsley, Frank Ravenell, Mack (Deloris) Ravenell, Jr., Jessie M. Ravenell, Roger (Dorothy M.) Ravenell and Rudolph (Evelyn) James; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
