With heartfelt sympathy and Christian love, we announce the peaceful transition of Mother Loretta Lillian Borden of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, who entered eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, April 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Mother Borden was the beloved widow of the late Mr. Harris Borden, Sr., and a devoted servant of God whose life reflected unwavering faith, humility, and love. A faithful and dedicated member of Irving Chapel AME Church in Cordesville, South Carolina, she served diligently in many capacities. Her heart was especially devoted to the Lay Organization and the Women’s Missionary Society, where she uplifted others through service, fellowship, and a steadfast commitment to God’s work.

Mother Borden found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working word search puzzles, enjoying her favorite shows like Family Feud, spending peaceful moments in Myrtle Beach, and fellowshipping at the Senior Citizens Center. Above all, she cherished time with her family, who were the center of her world.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her children, Harris Borden, Jr. (Mary), Jerald Borden (Sheila), Mary Lenora Grant (Raymond), and Mildred Borden Smith; along with a loving legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of cousins, extended family, church family, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.

The family is not receiving visitors at the residence but humbly asks that you continue to lift them in prayer and surround them with love through your calls, messages, and kind expressions of support during this time.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Irving Chapel AME Church, 316 Irving Chapel Road, Cordesville, South Carolina.

A Homegoing Celebration honoring her life and legacy will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Truth Tabernacle, 1169 Old Church Road, Cordesville, South Carolina. Interment will follow in the Irving Chapel AME Church Cemetery.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Mother Borden has received her heavenly reward and now rests in the presence of the Lord she so faithfully served.
