Obituary

Rebecca Lloyd was born November 5, 1921 in Cordesville, South Carolina. Rebecca was the daughter of the late Harriett Doughty Lloyd and Elli Lloyd.

Rebecca relocated to New York in 1940 with her sisters where she worked as a nanny. When she was of age, she worked in the garment district as a seamstress where she made men's ties. She retired after 35 years of service. Rebecca was a dedicated woman of God who raised all of her children in the church. She was a dedicated member of St. Luke A.M.E. for over 30 years and one of the founders of the Christian Brothers Organization. Upon retirement, she and her husband returned home to South Carolina to spend the rest of her days amongst her siblings and friends. She was blessed with another church home, Truth Tabernacle, where her spirit was fed. She was called from her labor to reward on November 9, 2018.

On March 27, 1943, Rebecca married Benjamin Manigault and their 76 year Union was blessed with four children. Rebecca is survived by her husband Benjamin; her four children: Louis Manigault, Marc (Chaya) Benjamin, Jatika Manigault, and Theresa Manigault; four grandchildren: Laura (Mance) Manigault Irvin, Ron (Carolyne) Marino, Nina Marino Manigault, Donnie Hutchinson, Jr.; six great grandchildren: Camille Irvin, Mance Irvin, II, Lloyd Benjamin Irvin, RJ Polk, Karma Elaine Polk and Carols Lamont Anderson; her sister: Elizabeth Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
