Obituary

Naomi Gillard Cooper w as the daughter of the late George and Daisy Gillard. Naomi was born June 24, 1926 and transitioned to eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2016. She was the seventh child of eight children and was educated in the Berkeley County School System.

She met the late Albert R. Cooper and they were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1944. From this union came three children, Lois Cooper Jones (Deceased), Dr. Joseph Cooper (Deceased) and Aaron David Cooper.

She loved and cherished her family unconditionally and unselfishly. Naomi was the epitome of motherhood and a "class act" wife, whose smile was contagious because of her joy in knowing the Lord and being a faithful servant .

Naomi was a God fearing woman who was saved at an early age. She attended the New Home Baptist Church of Oakley, SC during her early years. She later joined Mount Carmel AME Church with her husband. She was an active member in the church, giving service through several ministries. She served as a Stewardess, Choir member, and was an avid Sunday School participant.  She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Daughters of Sarah. She was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, Moncks Corner Chapter #161.

Naomi had a gentle, humble compassionate and giving spirit. She found happiness in spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are: her devoted son, Aaron D. Cooper (Jan); six precious grandchildren, Letitia N. Jones Johnson (Kevin), Kimberley L. Jones Ross (Jayson), Aaron C. Cooper (Shantana), Jonathan J. Cooper (Artisha), Tarique J. Cooper, Sean R. Cooper and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Lemon; three sisters-in-law, Beatrice Gilliard, Florice Gillard, Peaches Gillard; a special friend, Mrs. Carrie Bell Lambright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Mount Carmel AME Church family.
