IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nathalee
Mckelvey
June 9, 1928 – May 20, 2017
Nathalee McKelvey, the daughter of the late Harry McKelvey and LaVenia Coaxum McKelvey, was born on June 9, 1928 in the Kitfield section of Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
She was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and attended Berkeley Training High School.
While Nathalee was very young, her mother preceded her in death. She was raised by her grandparents, Frank and Susan Coaxum and at the age of ten she went to live with her uncle and aunt, Elijah and Rose Heyward.
She grew up in a Christian home and at an early age accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. She served and sang on the Usher Board at Graham African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she lived for forty-five years. She was a member of Corner Stone Baptist Church.
In 1991, she moved back home and returned to Moncks Corner AME Church, where she served on the Stewardess Board.
Although Nathalee did not have any children of her own, she had a special love and care for children and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She loved to sing and she loved her family.
Nathalee
entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Nathalee
was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Mary Jane Liferidge McKelvey; her brothers, Franklin, Samuel and Arthur McKelvey; her sisters, Albertha Williams and Pearl McKelvey Bellamy; and a very special friend, Joe Fussell.
She
leaves to cherish her memories: her sister, Susan McKelvey Bartley and her brother-in-law, William L. Bartley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nathalee will be missed by a special and dedicated family: Dennis, Cynthia, Jovahn and De'Jambra Croker. They not only cared for her as a patient, but loved and cared for her as if she were a part of their own family.
