Paul Johnson, Jr., son of the late Paul Johnson, Sr. and Bertha Smalls Johnson, was born April 26, 1939, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He departed this life April 9, 2021, at Hallmark Healthcare Center, Summerville, South Carolina.

"Peely", as he was known to many, received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. He was employed as a Foreman at the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) from where he retired.

Paul was a member of Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church.

Paul was united in holy matrimony to Beatrice Miller. This union was blessed with eight children.

Peely was a loving person who would reach out to help others. He was the "taxi cab" driver for many, taking them various places. He was known for driving a Cadillac and making sure his car was spotless. He also enjoyed listening to music. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his children, Beverly Ann Green (Isaac), Paula Thomas (Zachary), Lennell Robinson (Ronald Reid), Robert Lee Johnson (Sennette), Paul Johnson (Mary) and Donnell Johnson (Pamela); eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; in-laws, Carolyn Nelson, Angienet (Roger) McFadden, O.B. (Deborah) Miller, Jr., Kizer (Alice) Miller and Willie (Pamie) Miller; favorite cousins, Oneta Johnson and Wilbert "Pee Wee" Johnson; special friends, John Middleton and Moses Middleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by: his wife, Beatrice Johnson; sons, Benjamin Elijah and Marty Dwayne Johnson; and sister, Isabell Wright.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Cherry Hill Cemetery, Moncks Corner, SC.
