A life so beautifully lived deserves to be remembered.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Deacon Peter Barnes, Jr. of St. Stephen, SC, who departed this life on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his beloved children, Damen (Valerie) Mahoney, Jessica Barnes, Peter Eric Barnes, Jr., Sharon Fields, Melissa Barnes, Melinda (Barry) Richardson and Rosalyn Barnes; his devoted brothers, John Barnes and Rev. Dr. Julius (Burnie) Barnes; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family, friends and loved ones.

Peter's legacy of hard work, dedication, love and devotion to his family, church family, friends and community will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Viewing will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gethers Funeral Home, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church, 2173 Highway 45, Pineville, SC. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church Cemetery, 2898 Highway 52, Bonneau, SC.
