Mr. Peter Simmons, Jr., affectionately called "Pete". "Junior" and "Eh-Eh", entered this world on November 12, 1934 to Peter Simmons, Sr. and Julia Spann Simmons in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Peter  received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County.

Peter was joined in Holy matrimony to Lucille Ferguson and was blessed with six daughters. Peter and Lucille migrated to New York where he worked hard to provide for his family, working various jobs. Peter was employed and retired from New York City Parks Department for 20 plus years. After retirement, he relocated to his hometown of Moncks Corner, SC.

Peter  loved music, especially Jazz; playing cards with family and friends; cooking and grilling; and he loved a good fare. Peter was a sharp dresser – loving his hat and caps. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, baseball, Guinness Stout, shooting the breeze, debating and commentating on sports and world events.

Peter received his formal Christian upbringing at Rock Hill Baptist Church and Bethlehem Reformed Episcopal Church.

Within the last few years, Peter faced multiple health challenges in which he never complained. Those who knew him well know that his favorite phrases were: "Naturally" and "U understand."

On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Peter's earthly assignment came to an end.

Peter was preceded in death by: his parents, Peter Sr. and Julia Simmons; his wife, Lucille Simmons; daughter, Rosa Mae Simmons; brother, Arthur; four sisters, Bertha, Carrie, Isadora and Francina.

Peter leaves to cherish his memories and legacy: five daughters, Joyce LaVern, Barbara Ann, Diane, Yvonne and Debbie; 17 grandchildren: Shelby (Wilbert), Kimberly, Lamar, Stacy, Shameka, Sherrod, Misty, Patrick, Ebony, Nathaniel, Eddie, William, Kendra, Ashley, Malik, Kayla and Chevonne; 17 great-grandchildren: Elijah, Myles, Ryan, Kye, Solomon, Malachi, Lamar Jr., Joshua, Matthew, Justice, Carmelo, Nasir, Jodi, Keyu, Savannah, Oshyn and Emmarie; one great-great-grandchild, Gabrielle; two sisters, Corine and Rev. Thelma (Deacon John); and one brother, Elijah. In addition, Peter leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Viewing (Walk-Through) will be held Friday, September 17, 2021, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Face masks are required.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Simmons Estate Cemetery, off Gaillard Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
