Simmons, Jr.

Mr. Pinckney Simmons, Jr., known to many as "Mack", was born on March 11, 1926, in Cordesville, South Carolina. He was a son of the late Pinckney Simmons, Sr. and Nancy Green Simmons. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Pruitt Health, Moncks Corner, SC.
"Mack" grew up in a section of Cordesville known as Sawmill where he received his education. He was a truck driver for Mepkin Abbey Monastery and for Ware Brothers. He was later employed by Santee Cooper's Jeffries Steam Plant until his retirement.
"Mack" was united in Holy Matrimony to Serena Taylor in 1952. This union was blessed with five children. His wife preceded him in death on August 17, 2015.
"Mack" was a member of St. James Reformed Episcopal Church and served faithfully as the sexton.
He touched the lives of many and will be missed.
"Mack" was preceded in death by one grandson Nathaniel Taylor.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: two sons, Arthur Taylor and George (Gwen) Taylor; three daughters, Wilhelmenia (Ossie) Francis, Carolyn (Theodore) Reid and Teresa Ann Simmons; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; special niece and nephews, Claretha (Abraham), Kevin and Walter (Birdie); three sisters, Christine Cureton, Lucille Simmons and Geneva Laboon; two sisters-in-law, Evangelist Elouise Simmons and Lillian Simmons Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends .
